Camera Operator | Steadicam Dancer | Storyteller
On a sunny day of Autumn of 1980 I arrived in USSR Moldova to a military father and bank worker mother. Born to a hard working family of traditional practical soviet mentality, art direction wasn't particularly supported.
The nomadic upbringing whilst growing up only added to my understanding of various cultures and of human nature, which to this day has a very strong draw in my work and life.
I had to start from scratch and not knowing anyone in the industry can be a daunting task. After finishing a course in Media Studies and with vague understanding of the industry, I plunged into making my way in the UK's industry. After working briefly in a rental house, I took the traditional route of going through the camera assistant progression starting from trainee level.
Later, I wanted to specialise and Steadicam was one of those tempting additions to my toolbox as I hadn’t come across any other female operators as role models at that time… and I love a challenge, whether it’s on a set or learning a new tool.
